Weldon 55

WELDON 55 chronicles this story of one of the nation’s most famous nonviolent drug offenders and the unlikely allies who campaigned to free this young hip hop producer and first-time offender from an outrageous mandatory minimum sentence for selling small amounts of marijuana - 55 years!  At a time when the Cannabis business is now projected to grow to be a $40 billion dollar a year industry, there are still thousands behind bars for marijuana, some for life sentences.  Weldon Angelos’ wants to use his story to rally support for the repeal of mandatory minimums and to free other pot prisoners and the many other victims of our nation’s misguided war on drugs.
